35 hour train to Hanoi – phew

OK, I JUST got to Hanoi and had some Street Noodles (Vietnam breakfast) and am letting everyone know I got here safe (If anyone cares) 😉 What a F*%&ing journey!

Went for a romantic dinner with the lads and a few beers so they could see me off. That they did. Nicest meal since I’ve been travelling. Arrived at the train station and everything went off without a hitch. The lady who sold me the ticket was going to Na Trang so I shared the taxi and with her SCREAMING child. Realized quickly that we were opposite sides of the train so I was all alone again. (Thank Buddha!… I couldn’t handle a child like that for 35 hours)

Got to my “room” which is 4 beds, kinda like what you see in the movies. It was only me and ONE other person. A girl with the EXACT same birthday as me and studying computer science too. Downside? She spoke ABSOLUTELY NO ENGLISH and I mean NONE.

However, it was a LOT of fun. I learned more Vietnamese that I know English and she learned a lot of English too. Kinda weird having to communicate with sounds, funny body movements (Just try explaining chicken, Pork, Beef, Noodles, chopsticks etc) but a great laugh. Also weird that no other westerners were on the train. We just listened to music, watched Harry Potter and learned our languages.

Everyone got two nights sleep so it was a pretty gruelling journey, especially in a tiny little bed (Don’t worry Sarah, she was over the other side of the room and she was PIG UGLY) 😉 Silly bitch also blocked my phone and I cannot get into the STUPID Vodafone site to get my PUK code. Sorry Sarah, there was no signal all the way up anyway.

Now I’m Hanoi and its a lot cooler here than in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). The trip here was BEAUTIFUL and I wish I could have stopped off at Hue (Who-Aay?). Will do that ONE day with Sarah I suppose.

Met some people in my Dorm already and am going to the Water Puppet show and the Circus tonight. Should be fun.

To avoid the risk of me rambling on again, I’ll say Dam Biet. Take care. Bye bye.

PS: Tell buttons I said hello!
