St Patricks day in….BANGKOK! (Again!)

Stuck in Bangkok! OK, got a flight from China (Cos I have now got 2 free flights) but wouldn’t fly me to Vietnam. Landed in Bangkok and planned to stay for a day. What happened? I lost my Fecking ATM card so I’m stuck here till Bank Of Ireland send it Post Restante. God only knows how long that will take! Thanks Mammy for helping me sort that out!

Anyway, Stayed here for St.Patrick’s day and I’m staying with 11 other people in my dorm and most of them came out with me to celebrate. Really nice. Met some really nice people. Staying in the KSR area (I know…not on it though!) and my hostel/guest house is sooooo cool and hippy style.

Stayed out until 10AM the day after St.Patrick’s day and met some really great new people. Still miss Sarah though! So Much! AHHHH!

Anyway, been around the temples and stuff. This part of the city is so much nicer (I’m the opposite side to where I was previously) and a lot LOT less sex workers. That’s my biggest hate about this place, but where I am I’m really relaxed.

Last night I went to a Thai wedding. One of the staff of my guest house got married and cos I’m now a long term (Relatively) resident, I got invited. It was a REAL experience, although not as colourful as I would have imagined. (And no elephants!)

Anyway, just chilling out here. A lot of the people are hanging around for a few days out of their way to wait for me to come to Cambodia with them. Plan to go to Siam Reap then down to Phnom Penh where I will meet up with my friends from Koh Pang Ngan. It’s amazing how everyone is on the same circuit and can meet up like this.

No Java on this machine so I could only put up a few pictures. (And that took nearly an hour!) I miss the high speed connections of Hong Kong!

Anyway, feel free to leave comments and stuff. It really helps. Miss you all lots and lots. Mai Sabii Dii πŸ™

Take care.

    hey dave,

my god a week cant go by without you losing something, a real clutz

    sent ya some ikobo money,

my broadband is nearly back, esatbt are crap, i will get it soon, i should also inform you of smart telecom who are telling people that the first 100,000 customers get free line rental for life
although they dont say they arent rolled out ANYWHERE yet, its real funny, one of the sales reps was real cool and telling me how the service is great once its rolled out, its just he thinks its funny how his company is so backwards in approach.

i made my C assignment by the skin of my teeth, i blame your amazing log of emails that keep streaming in, its unreal, how do you cope with it all.

anyway, stay safe buddy, send a mail when to let me know the ikobo money reached you fine.

    talk to ya dave

  9. Eugene says:

Hi Dave. Still losing things I see. What way are the bank sending the replacement? I reckon I could have got it to you a couple of days quicker. You should have told me.
    Snippets of useless news:
Celtic are back on top where they belong.
Rovers got a late equaliser against the Bozos.
Off to Connemara this weekend with Lezan ( who won in Dublin ) while Sarah will be travelling back.
Family weekend in Tullamore the following weekend.
Me Da is in hospital, but he is getting better.
I’m off to the Sahara in two weeks time and Sunday World rang me today for an interview.
    That’s enough for now.
    Keep enjoying yourself.

  10. Dave says:

Hey Eugene. Thanks for teh message. Great to hear the news. Its so strange not having TV and having NO inkling of whats happening in the western world. Especially Ireland. Its nice though in a way.

The bank were messing me around for a few days. My Ma only got the card yesterday and she FED-EX’d it next day delivery a few hours later so it will be here hopefully on Thursday. I hope so cos I just booked my bus to Cambodia for Thursday night!

I heard about your Da. Im sorry to hear that. But hes in the right place to get better anyway.

Really sorry Im going to miss the Family reunion this year. Send my regards to Everyone. By that tell them I said hi! Especially my favourites (You know who they are!) πŸ˜‰

Tell Gina and Ger that I miss them and was asking for them also.

No news here, I just post it on the website as it happens. Have to go now, having a real culture day planned. LOTS of temples and stuff. Plan on having a day long chat with a monk about Bhuddism. πŸ™‚

    Take care.

ok Paddy’s day. what a wake up call!
“Mam I’m in Bankok and I lost my banklink card. no money”

What could I do, Bank holiday, everywhere closed.
Next day went to bank to see what could be done.

Send money via western union, have to wait til Monday.
Went to the bank, They said that they would send on the card to you.
I asked for a shipping number and found out that the card hadn’t even been issued!
I had to go back the next day and after many phonecalls I eventually got told to come up to customer services on Tuesday morning at 8am.

Got there at 8.40am and found out that they don’t open til ten.
Hung around til ten- Hip hip horay! I got the card!!
Now I’m on my way to FedEX Express only to find out they don’t handle cash. Off I go to Omni Post office, (you wanna see Omni now! there’s a lot of building going on) got the postal order, back through all the traffic to FedEX and thanks to a guy called Colin your card should be there Thursday.

If you loose anything else, I will personally fly over there and kill ye!
So PLEASE please please take care, Love Mamoxxxxxxxxxxxx
