Free Aung San Suu Kyi
As of today Aung San Suu Kyi has been detained for a total of:
9 years and 224 days
On June 19th 2005, Burmese pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi will be 60 years old. However, she will be celebrating her birthday under house arrest. To show my support, when I am in New York, for one day, I will be placing myself under house arrest (Or Hostel arrest..wherever the hell I am). This is not a cry for attention or an attempt to do something alternative, it is simply an act that I hope will bring more attention to the current political situation and blatent abuse of human rights currently in Burma. Aung San Suu Kyi is now serving her third term of house arrest. She was arrested on 30 May, 2003 after the regime’s militia attacked her convoy and killed up to 100 of her supporters.
You can find out more information about the situation and the Free Aung San Suu Kyi campaign HERE - www.burmacampaign.org.uk
Send a birthday card to Aung San Suu Kyi!
Send a card to Aung San Suu Kyi and show your support on her 60th birthday. Please send cards to Aung San Suu Kyi’s home address in Burma:
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi
54 University Avenue
Bahan 11201
Yangon
Myanmar
If you are not arsed doing any of the above, for me, since I have taken away the ads from the site (
), please go HERE - Actionburma.com and simply send the already written letter to the Senior General Than Shwe, Burma’s dictator, to ask for the release of Aung San Suu Kyi.
Thats my political talk for now, I’m sorry but it needed to be done. I’ll have a “Regular” update with photos etc. soon.
If you read this far, thanks.
